Smooth writing experience
Writing PerformanceI purchased the EF nib and I can say that the nib does very closely create line strokes like a typical Eastern nib. It has a very constant flow but the pen does have an issue with drying out when not in use. Since I have seen this issue with a few of these types of pens, I have decided to consider that an issue wit retractable pens and so you will want to use an ink that is well lubricated.________________________________________Design & Build QualityThis pen has a very sleek, metal body with a satisfying heft, making it comfortable for extended writing sessions. The clip is an issue for my hands with the way the I hold pens. However, I have found a different was to hold this pen and it works for me. Not have a exaggerated step down from the barrel to the grip section made this pen a dream to write with.________________________________________Value for MoneyI paid $22 bucks for this pen. This is a great value for a pen that writes this smoothly and feels great in the hands.________________________________________Pros• Smooth, consistent writing experience• Sleek, durable metal construction• Retractable design for convenience• Affordable price point________________________________________Cons• Potential for drying out if left unused for extended periods• Converter has a smaller ink capacity________________________________________Final VerdictThe Jinhao 10 is a remarkable pen that offers a premium writing experience at an accessible price. Its smooth performance, elegant design, and affordability make it a top choice for anyone seeking a reliable retractable fountain pen.

Great Fountain Pen at a very low price
There are many reviews of the Jinhao 10 on You Tube. Mine is a slightly textured matte black model with a fine nib and screw cartridge loaded in the pen. It came in a small fitting metal box inside of the cardboard sleeve. The metal box closes securely. The pen has a good feel in the hand. The fitment and finishing are superb without any manufacturing issues or defects. The knocker is smooth and precise with a nice click when the nib is extended into position. The clip is stiff but usable, yet thin enough not to interfere in the hand. I like the clip as a guide to where the fountain pen nib will emerge and have not been bothered by the clip in any way. When the nib is not extended it hides behind a small door, like putting your tongue to the roof of your mouth. When slowing pushing the knocker, the nib emerges cleanly from behind the door which drops down during use. The nib offerings are fine and extra-fine. The pen writes with a clean line giving precision to the strokes. You can certainly cursively write with the pen, but my main function is for very precise writing. If I want a broader stroke, I will use my Jinhao 9019. The Jinhao 10 for my use is for fine footnotes, margin notations, formulas, architectural use and such, but the pen is versatile and will do all functions smoothly on the paper. The nib is stiff without flex. I placed tiny dabs of silicone grease on the fittings to keep everything supple, but that is my foible as I prepare a pen for use, along with a polishing between the tines of the nib with a .0015 feeler gauge. I have had no leakage of ink, and no dry outs with regular use, but the writing is not exceptionally wet (this may loosen up over time). I used Noodler’s Heart of Darkness in my trial. I would be happy to give or receive this pen. Would I recommend the pen, you bet.

As convenient as a Ballpoint
I bought this pen because I loved the color and had to have it. I have a dozen fountain pens, two or three of medium cost, and a vintage, expensive Parker, but I like to have a lot of pens going so I can have ink options, and the sea green will go with some of my favorite inks. Now, I first bought a Majohn A1 capless pen. That pen and this Jinhao are copies of the well-known and more expensive Pilot capless. I thought I might enjoy owning the Pilot but was reluctant to purchase it before knowing what I thought of the design. Many FP users are purists and we like the old ways, so I was unsure about embracing the capless novelty, or what the pen would look like to me in person because I did not care for the look in pictures. OK, I was shocked. I loved the first capless I bought, the Mahjohn, and I quickly bought another, and then this Jinhao. They all look better in person, and the metal pens feel substantial in the hand. This Jinhao writes well and looks great. I give the Majohn the edge because the inner works are more expensively machined, but you pay about ten dollars more for that. The Jihao looks just as nice. I doubt I would bother with one of the cheaper plastic ones because this pen feels expensive in the hand, even though it is not. There is some feedback on the fine point, a little scratchiness. I wish Jinhao did this pen in a medium point because I think that is the Jinhao sweet spot, but nibs are personal, and I do love writing with these. I find that I prefer to carry these pens in a shirt pocket. My capped pens serve me well at my desk. Come to think of it, since I do carry the capless ones around, the fine point is an advantage, because I can write on any type of paper. Will I shell out the money for a Pilot capless? Never say never, but I am loving this pen and the Majohns for the time being. I highly recommend one or the other. This one is more reasonably priced, and does not look cheap.
