Effective alternative to DEET
I am extremely sensitive to insect bites and the resulting red bumps and/or rashes often last for weeks. I have also been diagnosed with Lyme Disease on two separate occasions. So, I need an effective and safe, multi-insect repellent and prefer picaridin over DEET. My house backs up to a very deep, critter-filled woods with a stream, so ticks, mosquitoes and assorted No-See-Ums are a problem.Since picaridin has only been around for about 20 years, it hasn't been studied as extensively as DEET. However, it’s believed to be just as effective as DEET, but without the skin irritation reported by some people. It also doesn't have DEET's damaging effect on plastics and other synthetic material (e.g., sunglasses, outdoor gear).I normally buy a brand name spray can of 15% picaridin at a nearby big box store, but it hasn’t been available for weeks. So, I decided to try Ben’s 20% and have found it to be very effective so far. Although the front of the can has “Tick Repellent” and “Ticks” in bold lettering, the main active ingredient, picaridin, is known to be very effective against a range of other nuisance insects such as mosquitoes, gnats, chiggers and assorted flies. However, the other pests are listed in small print on the side.I also found the following info on an NPR site that was very interesting, “Picaridin is a little more effective than DEET and seems to keep mosquitoes at a greater distance…When people use DEET, mosquitoes may land on them but not bite. When they use a product containing picaridin, mosquitoes are less likely to even land.”

Mosquitoes, black flies, gnats, ticks - hate this
Picardin is my top choice for additional bug protection when I'm hiking on the Appalachian Trail or just hanging in my back yard. I really like that this is aerosol - the finest light mist is all you need for hours of protection. No burning, stinging or melting of plastics make me feel better in my choice to use this over deet - plus this is way more effective. I have other brands like Ranger and Sawyer, and they work fine, but sometimes I like an aerosol's light mist.No ticks, mosquitoes, gnats or black flier ( Buffalo flies) when I use this.

Good product
Sprays well and the bottle seems to be good but a little big for our needs.
