Relatively small capsules which are easy to take and have no smell and seems to work. Unlike the alternate source of DAO which is usually desiccated kidney, which are on the large side and DEFINITELY have a smell, I can actually take these without holding my nose. More importantly I can presort these into my pill box. I definitely cannot take the others out ahead of time or the smell goes everywhere. With the others, I just have to hope I remember to take the extra pill.

Finally a DAO I can tolerate!

I am trying these capsules to help with my stuffy nose. I found out that some of my favorite foods can cause problems with histamine, which can cause stuffy nose.I had been trying essential oils to try to be able to breathe better. They did not help much. Nose strips do not help.So I've been taking these capsules for about a week. It's recommended to take one with each meal, which I have been doing. I did notice my nasal passages opened up some. Not all the way, but a noticeable difference. I'm a nose breather, so stuffy nose really disrupts my life.I like that these are small and easy to swallow. I have not had any bad side effects while taking them. I am almost out of the bottle, so I am seriously considering ordering another bottle.

Solaray is a reputable supplement company I have been buying from for years, and I trust them to make quality products. As stated on the bottle, the DAO enzyme is present in our gut and helps us metabolize histamine in our food. However, some people are deficient, and this is meant to help with that problem. I don’t know if I’m deficient, but I do know that I have a lot of allergy symptoms and also that some high-histamine foods can exacerbate those. So, I wanted to give this a try. I choose to use it only before eating high histamine foods rather than before every meal. I took a dose before eating avocado, and it did seem to help me avoid the digestive issues I sometimes get with avocado. For those who need it, this can be very effective. It’s not for everyone with allergies.

I am a lifelong heavy supplement user and have used numerous Solaray products. They are one of the mainstays in the nutrition industry and have been around for decades.DAO is an interesting product and has become trendy in recent years for use by allergy sufferers. I have tried a couple of other brands of DAO, and it does seem to help some.This contains cellulose (a filler) plus silica (a flow agent). Thankfully, it does not contain magnesium stearate, which I try to avoid, as it is known to cause digestive issues. The capsules are small and easy to swallow with no odor or taste.There is nothing on the label showing whether or not this is manufactured in the USA... nor is there anything indicating if it is made in an FDA inspected or GMP certified facility. It does say it is “lab verified”, but not sure if it is done by an independent lab.

This gel cap is small and easy to swallow. It is made in the USA in a cGMP facility by a reputable company that has been making supplements for over 50 years. I was surprised that the bottle was less than 25% full though, seems like they could provide 3 or 4 times as many pills per bottle. But I guess at the cost (currently $23.39 for 30 pills), that would prohibit people from buying this. They recommend taking 1 pill per meal so this is only a 10 day supply at that rate. This is an excellent quality supplement but I have given it just 4 stars because of the cost.

Bottom line is that, I just don't know.The bottle says to take 1 capsule, 3 times daily. So there's just 10 days worth.I think this could potentially be beneficial for some people that experience difficulties with food digestion.The last ten days has gone by incredibly fast. I just can't get a good feel on it's short term effectiveness.

So many of my favorite foods contain histamine, alas! I was excited to learn that there were enzymes available! This is a quality source, and it’s a brand I trust. So far it has been helpful and effective. I’m grateful that it is a vegan supplement made with plant-based capsules. I have just been taking one per day and find this supplement expensive for a one month supply: if I were to take it 3x a day as indicated as an option on the bottle this would be expensive for a 10 day supply. At this cost I may look for other options, BUT this is indeed a good quality option so it’s worth it if it helps!
