Period Panties For the Win!
When I first became aware of period panties, and discovered they were a new product and not just a reference to those large and cozy but damaged, dismal undies that are shoved in the back of the drawer awaiting that day they are called to action to do their duty so you don't damage anymore underwear, I was intrigued. I used cloth diapers for my kids so I'm not super grossed out by the concept BUT definitely concerned about whether or not they would feel uncomfortable especially as they collect blood.First of all, I have tried it all. Tampons of all shapes and sizes, various cups, about a billion different pads and for the most part I would always have leaks, especially overnight or getting up in the morning. The cups worked the best but caused other problems which is topic for another day.So! Not wanting to spend a ridiculous amount on Thinx or other similar brands, I shopped around and finally bit the bullet and purchased these, which were a pack of 3 for less than the cost of 1 of the other brands of this type of underwear, and organic. BONUS!These arrived quickly and without incident and are actually pretty comfortable. They definitely come down a little lower on the legs and can feel a bit tight, but not uncomfortable. I think it's because the crotch area is wider which is actually a plus for coverage and leak protection. There's definitely a noticeable difference where the protection is placed, meaning if you are wearing leggings, thin, tight or light colored pants/skirt you're going to be able to see that noticeable section, like to lines down the middle of each cheek.I have a big butt, especially in proportion to the rest of me and agree with other reviewers that the backside coverage is a little low. Everything is still covered and it's not really an issue but because of the protective layers sewn in there is less stretch to cover an exceptionally round rump. This will only be an issue if you wear low cut pants and squat. Then you'll probably display a peak of the cheeks up, maybe more.As far as leak protection, I have been wearing them without any other protection. On light/medium days this works just fine. On heavy days, have some other sort of protection or have a butt ton of these undies on hand. These work so well and I'm so happy with them. I almost get excited when I have my period because I know I have these now and no longer have to fear/dread ruining clothes, sheets, etc. I did say almost right? Planning to get a variety and try all of the other types and styles out there but if these are the only period panties you ever buy, you won't be disappointed.Important note, don't wait to wash and don't wear for too long. Now I'm sure everyone knows the importance of regularly changing your underwear but with these it is even more important and if you don't wash pretty quickly, much like cloth diapers, they will develop a smell. Not an "OMG gross change your underwear" smell but a pungent, chemically smell. Hope this helps!

If you need coverage in the back, these are for you.
They are made for people who sleep on their backs. The coverage is good in the back, but there isn't anything really more than normal in front. I am a stomach sleeper, so these didn't give me the protection I needed. I see where they are great for some women, but I am not one of them.

good design, SIZE UP!
I have 37 inch hips and the chart says I am a small, but I ordered medium because I know I don't like tight clothes and I am often a medium. They are the right size, maybe even slightly tight, but not enough to feel it under clothing during the day. They are a little low in the front and back, (the panties as a whole, not the impermeable layer) but not bad. I don't think I would have liked small at all, and large would have been too loose. I like that they are cotton (synthetic holds bacteria and odor more) and that they have a wideish crotch area which Lostgetfound pointed out, which is one reason I ordered these ones. The impermeable layer sandwiched inside the panties has good coverage and is surprisingly a little stretchy, and not crinkly at all. It doesn't seem like just plastic, I can't tell what kind of material it is. Anyway, they seem like basically normal underpants with an extra layer of thin material, so it's like wearing a panty liner or very thin pad. I don't understand why it goes all the way up the butt though. I wear these with my Diva cup, or with tampons.UPDATE: I have been wearing these for a while now and I like them a lot. They are not too hot and swampy, they do prevent moisture going through them, (I haven't had any big leaks, but I have gone on a hike where I got soaked and the panties kept my butt dry) and the slightly weird fit has not really bothered me. However they create a very bad, unflattering panty line when worn under yoga pants. Fine under jeans and looser pants/shorts though. They have really REALLY helped me feel more secure about leaks. I no longer have to do the panicked waddle to the nearest bathroom if I feel the tiniest bit of moisture.

Unfortunately (or fortunately for our sake)
I purchased these for my daughter for extra protection during her period. She has a problem with leaking through her pad & tampon at school even with frequent changes. So, I thought these menstrual panties would eliminate her embarrassing leakage on her clothing. She gave them a try for two months and had no luck either month. She still had staining on her clothing while wearing the panties along with a pad and tampon. Unfortunately (or fortunately for our sake) , periods only come once a month so, we missed the opportunity to return them for not living up to how they were advertised. I would strongly advise not purchasing these as they don't work even with added protection.

No Leaks!
I used these period panties during my last cycle and liked them. I used them as a backup to my menstrual cup and also as my sole protection during my light spotting days at the beginning and the end of my cycle. I also have a pair of the high waisted lace Thinx and I would say that these definitely provide the same amount of protection as the Thinx and are certainly much more affordable, albeit slightly less comfortable. I am a full thighed woman and these definitely cut into my leg crease a little more than I would normally like. For reference I am a size 12 and I comfortably wear an XL in Gap and AE underwear and I ordered an XL in these and they fit well besides the slight tightness in the leg opening. As far as leak protection I had no issues - which is really what mattered most. I love that they come as a set of three because it is easy to have a pair always handy to swap out if you are hand washing them and if I washed them at night they were dry by morning. Overall I would recommend these, although I would maybe size up if I ordered another set just for comfort sake. I am trying to be as low waste as possible and these are a great and easy way to cut out panty liner waste and a trust worthy backup to my diva cup.

Best period of my life!
I got these because I was looking for an alternative to using tampons/pads. I tried using a Divacup/Mooncup, which I think is a wonderful product, but personally for me, it didn't work out.Adverts for Thinx have been popping up all over my social media, but they were quite out of my price range. With a lot of hesitation, I bought these Hesta Menstrual panties instead.Putting them on, they don't feel bulky. They just look like normal, black panties. Kinda tomboy-ish, but very comfy! I got a size medium, and they fit true-to-size, although I do get a little bit of VPL. If I was dressing up and needed to wear a tight dress/skirt then I would probably not wear these. But for the most part, when I'm on my period, I wear comfy oversize things so it doesn't really matter. So I was expecting to use these on lighter days only, and on heavy days as a backup with a tampon. However, I found with my last 2 periods, I have only needed to wear these and nothing else! I'm shocked, and over-the-moon!On my heaviest day, I was a bit brave/idiotic and went on a hike with some friends wearing only these. With a few hours left of the walk, I realised there was a lot of blood "down there" and felt a bit of panic! I ignored it, and on arrival home I discovered no leaks whatsoever! Amazing!I am not sure whether to consider my overall period heavy or not. I think I'm somewhere on the medium scale of things. If you have a really heavy flow, you would definitely want to use a tampon as well for peace of mind. if you are light, then lucky you! These would be fine all week.Cleaning is super easy. All I do is rinse them with cold water at the end of the day. Hang them to dry and put on a fresh pair. Halfway through my cycle, I do a machine wash of all 3 pairs. Then I have fresh pairs for the end of my cycle. In the future, I will buy some more so that if I don't have access to a washing machine, I can have backup pairs.I expected using period pants to be messy and kinda gross. But actually, my period is way LESS gross now! It's so nice not to have to deal with a trash can full of horrible tampons and pads. Cleaning out these pants is actually a much more pleasant experience than pulling out a tampon. And it's SO much better for the environment :D

Sturdy, reliable, organic, gentle on skin
Despite poor reviews below I've ordered another set of these as I actually love them! Firstly I don't mind the lower hip design as they look like normal undies rather than granny pants, they look good with trousers, but I mainly use at night. Pretty much the only cotton period undies, and also organic very soft yet strudy, genle on the skin. Love them, bought some for my mum as well.

Not what I had hoped for
Material is comfortable and size as expected, the design is disappointing as it’s not very discreet. The last photo does not reflect the real look.

Very disappointed
Very disappointed. So low rise they barely cover you front or back, feel like they are constantly falling down. Hard ridges of fabric and uncomfortable. Very disappointed considering the high price.
