A effective and gently way to reduce Uric Acid levels
I find this to be an effective product to gently lower my Uric Acid levels. Terminalia Bellirica has been shown to reduce Uric Acid and it is thought to do so by inhibiting xanthine oxidase (XO), similar to Allopurinol and Febuxostat. In a 2016 pilot study* this Terminalia Bellirica extract was found to reduce serum uric acid levels by around 28% whereas Febuxostat achieved 47% compared to placebo. That meant in practice that 88.8% of the subjects with raised Uric Acid (but not active gout) taking 500mg Terminalia Bellirica a day reached the target range of 6 mg/dL by the end of 24 weeks of treatment. This concentration of Uric Acid is considered to offset the risk of gout. The pilot study needs to be followed up but of interest, the Uric Acid concentrations in the 500mg Terminalia Bellirica fell consistently over the 24 weeks but more gently than Febuxostat. A point to consider is that Allopurinol and particularly Febuxostat have quite a list of adverse effects in the longer term. Terminalia Bellirica however, is well studied and reportedly has a range of positive effects on health: including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antimicrobial, hepatoprotective, renoprotective and antidiabetic activities. Allopurinol and particularly Febuxostat may have more potent effects at lowering uric acid but the metabolic effects of Uric Acid are complex and the science is still evolving. There are well reported health consequences for having raised Uric Acid and increasingly low Uric Acid. This is something worth discussing with your GP.A final point. These supplements are available much cheaper elsewhere.*P Usharani et al. Evaluation of effect of T. chebula and T. bellerica on serum uric acid levels. Caution.
This product does work, the active ingredient was in a study, that significantly reduced uric acid, but only from around 9, to 5. So if your levels are higher than 9 it would not be useful for gout. The other thing to remember is, it uses the same enzyme as most of the gout anti inflammatory meds, so you’d have to stop those and just bare the pain or go natural; mixing this with those can be deadly, because they won’t leave your system quick enough.Another thing, why pay £26 for these, when you can get Allo from a GP, for £15.

Beware
This product contains maltodextrin. A terrible, terrible thing to put into your body, and it is a real shame it has been added to the supplement.
