7/18/22 - I like this projector even more with the custom settings in the app. It requested Bluetooth and Location permissions to connect the projector. It also wanted File/Photo permissions to create backgrounds for the tiles for each custom setting. It's an OK feature but purely cosmetic so I denied those permissions and it worked, aside from bugging me when I launched the app.The app gives a little more freedom than the button presets. You can adjust the brightness of each nebula color (red green & blue) as well as the stars from 0% to 100%, toggle rotation, and fade. For me the stars were a bit too bright and uniform, the starfield is very dense. By lowering the star brightness to 30% they seemed to blend much better with the nebula. You can create custom sets and cycle through the presets, enable the timer, etc. Since the projector is across the room, I use the app to turn it off from bed.The projector is dead silent and has a good throw, especially in rooms with high ceilings. For the price I think it does an excellent job, creating a nice ambience in our bedroom. I wish the nebulas were a little brighter, but the stars are very bright. As mentioned above the starfield is very dense and although they're somewhat randomly distributed, they can seem a bit uniform in places, you can pick out some patterns. Dimming them helped as some stars faded in and out of the nebula clouds. It's a somewhat simple effect - you're not exactly getting a planetarium with the blue stars. But very effective how the light plays off the rotation of the nebula clouds.Overall, I love it. Perfect for relaxing at the end of the night.

I’m a songwriter and want to expand my fanbase with TikTok videos. I found a nice spot in my house to record and got a sunset lamp to spice up my background. It’s really pretty, but I can’t have all my videos look the same. So, I did some research and stumbled upon ‘star projectors’. This one seemed promising. I read the reviews, watched comparison videos with other projectors, and thought I’d try it myself.It’s PERFECT. I love the blue stars + blue nebula combination the best for my videos, but a large portion of the 1 star reviews find fault with:1. App-to-item compatibility2. Data privacy3. Full ceiling projectionI didn’t run into those issues.First, I’m young and pretty familiar with smart devices, so it was no trouble getting bluetooth connected.Second, some claim the app asked for access to their camera, photos, and other ‘personal’ things. For me, I can report I encountered no such permission requests during my app setup. Is the app collecting my data? Probably, but doesn’t every app? I’m not saying it’s okay. Just that I’m not too bothered if it does or doesn’t. I’m a part of a generation whose location, search history, and internet activity has been tracked and stored since we were born. We’re used to this sort of thing, but if you’re an off-grid kinda guy, I understand your apprehension.Third, TikTok videos fit within the dimensions of an iPhone screen, so I didn’t need a large projection behind me to achieve my desired background. It suits my needs like a glove. Full ceiling projection wasn’t my goal in purchasing this light, although it does fill up my ceiling pretty well at full brightness in the dark, and on the floor, not a table; because the further a projector is from a surface, the larger the projection will be.My ONLY criticism is the stars/nebula move slower than I expected, and there’s no option on the devise or within the app to modify the rotation speed. Just a minor issue, really.As in any purchase, ask yourself what your goals are. Like me, do you want to make fun, 30 second videos for social media, and just need a more interesting background? Does your kid want to be an astronaut and you need to get a last minute birthday present?
