Q: Why does this unit require access to contact lists, Camera and microphone, imei of the phone and why does it send data to sites located in China?

When you login, you can tell the app your location is in US then it will use "American server", showing in the Property.Device info.Data Cloud. (at least it is what the app indicates). I do not know why it, BroadLink app, asks to access contact lists, but you can easily to remove the permissions at Android Settings.App.... remove all the permissions: Calendar, Camera, Phone, Storage, Your location. After that, the app still works fine and it still knows your "home" location to tell the correct weather, etc.

Q: Will it work with google home?

At Google Home app, tap Settings, then at "Work with Google", search "BroadLink". It used to use ihc, Intelligent Home Center, now it uses "BroadLink" to link your RM to Google Assistant. It also works with Alexa. At Alexa app, at Skills, link with "BroadLink".

Q: Nowadays works with Google Home?

Yes, it works with Amazon Alexa and Google Home.

Q: How do you add multiple users? in the app, all it shows is a qr code and a 16 digit alpha-numeric code w/ invite to join, free to join & locked

yes , it is , from the APP "IHC" interface， =》“I” =》my homes=> share the QR code , then can get a invite code to let your family member to join it .
