When a Telecaster Plays the Blues

This is a good later-period Buchanan live recording. The only drawback (and the reason I gave it 4 stars) is the quality of the recording. The performances are great; Roy is blazing all the way through. This is not the best introduction to live Roy(try "Livestock") however, if you're a Roy fan you will want this recording because it is a good example of Roy's live work later in his career. Enjoy.

Great live show! doesn't say from where or when but I think it is after the first Alligator record and before the second. Peter Gunn is on this disc but he's been doing that for a while. If youra Roy B. fan, you'll need this one!

I suspect that this disc is a "remaster" of the same source tape used to make this RB CD: World's Greatest Unknown Guitar . The track listing, once corrected, is the same. The three star rating is for the recording quality. There are a lot of great RB CDs out there, some very hard to find, but most are a better place to start than this one. This is for true Roy fans who appreciate whatever they can get their hands on and ears around.Even though the audio is rough, loud, and distorted, Roy's performance is great. "A diamond shines through the mud". Just think that your ears are bleeding from listening to Roy play at 11 for two hours straight and this listening experience is about the same.

Really catches early Alligator era Roy. A relabelling of the Charly release from the 1990s https://www.amazon.com/Live-Roy-Buchanan/dp/B000024IOI/ Hopefully Roy's estate benefits from this version.It's a soundboard recording, not an audience. Not perfect but definitely listenable.
